A tribute to literature by the artist. Book accompanied by an original and unique signed work, printing enhanced with watercolour or felt.
Jeanne Susplugas' work seduces at first sight because it is beautiful, simple, structured, understandable and colourful. At second glance, it however appears disturbing. Through her videos, writings with light cords, drawings, photographs or cardboard constructions, she highlights the nerve racking and obsessive world of humans, deeply hypochondriac, constantly looking for more performance. Since 2007, Jeanne Susplugas pursues a series of drawings entitled Containers, inspired by the American pharmaceutical bottles. In her drawings, drug names are substituted by words forming sentences extracted from a collection coming from her readings for the last fifteen years. A literary database (Base de données littéraires), constant source of inspiration, crystallizing our mental environment, which is partly presented in this book.
