Mad Meg's recent creations are still personal, intimate and it also deals with reproduction, maternity and exploring openly feminist topics. As always her artworks are ultra-precisely executed, but also, and that is new, feature text embedded in the art, used both for its visual qualities as well as its contents. Text to read, to decipher, to search for in the middle of her artwork, in which we can as always lose ourselves into the infinite.
Since 2004, Mad Meg (born 1976 in France) has been drawing in pen and ink, in a one-scale realist style, a universe that is both autobiographical and politically radical, marked by feminist commitment. Influenced by the Flemish Masters and Hieronymus Bosch, she meticulously appropriates the founding paintings of Western culture and historically engaged literary texts, which she includes in her work as a visual texture.
