Guillaume Belhomme, Philippe Robert - Free Fight
The complete texts and photographs published in the fanzine dedicated to free jazz.
In 2011 and 2012, Guillaume Belhomme and Philippe Robert battled it out with free jazz vinyl from their collections. The result is a fanzine called Free Fight. This is our (new) thing, whose four issues sold out immediately. This book, in an Italian-style format that respects that of the original fanzine, brings together all 72 texts and 216 photographs published in the four volumes.
Featuring Cecil Taylor, Bill Dixon, Anthony Braxton, Sun Ra, Steve Lacy, Don Cherry, Roscoe Mitchell, Hamiet Bluiett, Alan Shorter, Frank Wright, Julius Hemphill, Sam Rivers, Yosuke Yamashita, Patty Waters, Peter Brötzmann, Byard Lancaster, Mats Gustafsson, Misha Mengelberg, Ted Daniel, Akira Sakata, Alan Silva, Sonny Sharrock, Alexander von Schlippenbach, François Tusques...
French writer, musician and publisher Guillaume Belhomme (born 1976) runs Lenka lente editions.
French musical critic Philippe Robert works for Revue & Corrigée, and is a former collaborator for Jazz Magazine, Les Inrockuptibles, Octopus, and Mouvement. He runs the blog Merzbo-Derek (merzbow-derek.tumblr.com).
