Pascal Battus

French sound artist, improviser, and composer Pascal Battus develops a practice of sound that is more attentive to the sonic gesture, to listening, and to the situation that determines them, rather than to a defined instrument: the guitar pick-up (a guitar microphone without a guitar), rotating surfaces, the "environed" guitar (an electric guitar on a table + contact microphone + various objects + electronics), percussion (amplified or non-amplified objects)… He has performed in Europe, the United States of America, Canada, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, both solo and more frequently with other musicians. He often collaborates with dancers, visual performers (video, light, sculpture…). He designs Sound Massages and creates sound installations. His records are released by Potlatch, Akousis Records, Corpus Hermeticum, Inexhaustible Editions, Another Timbre, Cathnor Recordings, Organized Music From Thessaloniki, Herbal International…

Chantier is a collective project with Pascal Battus on found objects, Bertrand Gauguet on saxophone, and Eric La Casa on microphones. The trio's proposal is to develop a sound practice created on building sites, amongst the machines and the builders. The fourth part of this project was recorded on the building site of the Philharmonie in Paris.
