This publication offers an overview of the 2010 edition of the Rencontre internationale d'art performance (RIAP) de Québec, detailing the main events of each of the seven evenings of action art that made up the performance festival. A range of authors comment on, and analyse, the work of the participating artists, the majority of whom are based in countries in Latin America and Asia, including Burma, Brazil, China, Korea, Mexico and Singapore. There is also coverage of the evening of French-language action poetry programmed in the festival. In addition, this publication features information about the follow-on works made by a number of artists in the Quebec towns of Alma, Chicoutimi, Rouyn-Noranda, Trois-Rivières and Rimouski. Lastly, the publication contains transcripts of the discussions that took place during the colloquia « Perspectives on action art in Latin American and Asia», programmed as part of the festival, and which took place in Quebec City on the 19th and 26th of September 2010. These events prompted reflection, communication and dialogue on the context of action art in these two regions of the globe.
