Sarah Tritz -
The second monograph on artist Sarah Tritz looks back on the last ten years of her work.
Sarah Tritz's second monograph revisits the body of work she has produced since the publication of her first catalogue in 2016. This book is structured around the documentation of different families of works developed by the artist over the past ten years, as well as the numerous exhibitions in which her work has been featured. The process of montage, of combining and confronting tonal, cultural, and technical differences, which is at play in Sarah Tritz's works and installations, finds an echo in the sequences and spatial arrangements in the pages of this volume. The graphic design, once again by Syndicat, confirms a long-term creative partnership and a shared interest in the possibilities of the book format. The work is illuminated by an interview between Sarah Tritz and Marine Zonca, as well as a critical text by Fernanda Brenner.
Sarah Tritz (born in 1980) lives in Paris and works in Ivry-sur-Seine. She graduated from ENSBA Lyon in 2004. Over the past twenty years, Tritz has developed a multifaceted visual art practice that incorporates various media and materials. Her works combine artistic gestures in the form of drawings, photographs, collage, montage, and three-dimensional works, craft techniques and DIY strategies, contexts such as domestic life, art, and the psychic realm, heterogeneous images, ranging from the bodily to the monetary, as well as contrasting tonalities—the regressive, the sexual, the economic, or the comical. Her work addresses the intimate and a personal biographical history, in an encrypted manner, sometimes open to play, manipulation, and interpretation, including in the psychoanalytical sense. Childhood and adulthood are deeply intertwined on both thematic and formal levels.
