A Rounded Landscape

Charlotte Moth - A Rounded Landscape
New monograph by Paris-based British artist Charlotte Moth, conceived as part of her exhibition at MAMC+ Saint-Etienne.
For her solo exhibition at the MAMC+ in Saint-Etienne, the first in a French museum, Charlotte Moth has focused her attention on the collection and the museum renovation. Since 2021, Charlotte Moth has worked like a researcher doing field work at the museum. She has scrutinised the transformations to the building while delving deep in the collection storages to bring gems back to life. Charlotte Moth's "A rounded landscape" activates the museum space as an alchemy of artworks, places, epochs, mediums and practices. The collection is considered at a whole and the museum as a locus for infinite potential encounters between objects.
Conceived as an integral part of the exhibition project and its legacy, the book includes an introduction by Aurélie Voltz (curator of the exhibition and Director of MAMC+), a conversation with the curator Caroline Hancock, an essay by Lisa Le Feuvre and a compilation of the collection of poems "The Couples" written by Charlotte Moth. The accompanying images bring together approximately sixty images, the silver gelatin prints from "The Couples" and "Renovation" series made for the exhibition as well as installation views of the exhibition at MAMC+.
Charlotte Moth (born 1978 in Carshalton, United Kingdom, lives and works in Paris) develops a body of work that is primarily photographic, but draws on her experience in sculpture, architecture, and film.
Texts by Caroline Hancock, Lisa Le Feuvre, Charlotte Moth, Aurélie Voltz.
