The multiple issues of sexual representations in art / the complex relationships between art and the various forms of pornography.
Following the boom of the pornography industry in the 1970s, artworks that present explicit representations of sexuality have critiqued both this industry and the art world. Over several decades, artists have transgressed not only the compartmentalization of the art and pornography categories, but also the patriarchal dimension of art, commercial pornography and sexual norms. The essays in the Porn·O issue provide an overview of various art productions that feature a diversity of sexual representations through an alternative, educational, gay, lesbian, dyke, queer, feminist or amateur pornography, which transforms the very contours of pornography, literally making it protean.
Founded in 1987 in Montreal, led by André-Louis Paré since 2013, Espace art actuel is an essential bilingual magazine for the promotion of contemporary art in the field of sculpture, installation and all other art forms associated with the notion of spatiality.
