David Núñez (born 1970 in Caracas, Venezuela) was part of the Venezuelan Youth Orchestra System known as “El Sistema”. In 1989 he moved to Brussels where he studied violin under Igor Oistrack at the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel, and later went on to receive a Higher Certificate in Composition at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique. Son of one of the best known composers in Venezuela, Juan Carlos Núñez, he grew up in permanent contact with contemporary music. Once in Belgium he participated in different contemporary music ensembles such as Ictus (Concertmeister for “Wagner Dream”, awarded the “Grand Prix de l'Academie du Disque Lyrique”) and
Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles (Concertmeister and Editor for “The Nameles City”, awarded the “Diapason d'or” 2011 in France). He has also performed in festivals such as Musica Viva (France), Festival D'automne ( France), Clef De Soleil (France), Ars Musica (Belgium), Festival Van Vlanderen (Belgium), Festival d'Avignon (France), Transit (Belgium), Festival Atempo (Venezuela).
