Ma Desheng
Ma Desheng (born 1952 in Beijing, lives and works in Paris) is a poet, performer and artist. In the spring of 1979, he participated in the first exhibition of non-official painting organized in Beijing by the artistic group “Stars,” of which he is a founding member. In 1985, he left China for Switzerland and, in 1986, he settled in Paris. He is an emblematic figure of Chinese artistic and cultural resistance.
