Caroline Bergvall is an artist,
poet, writer and
performer working across artforms, media and languages. Her work frequently develops through exploring material traces, literary documents and linguistic detail, language and literary history, sites and histories, hidden or forgotten knowledges. Her sparse textual, spatial and audio works often expose hidden or difficult historical/political events. Projects include books, performances, installations, sound pieces, net-based work, graphic and printed work. Selections appear in anthologies in the UK and internationally. Works have been shown and presented at Tate Moden London, MOMA NY, Whitney Biennial NY, Powerplant Toronto, MACBA & Poesia Barcelona, Montevideo Festival Marseille, Fondation Vuitton Paris, Serpentine Gallery London, Arnolfini Gallery Bristol, Khoj Centre New Delhi, Samtidmuseet Oslo… In 2017, Caroline Bergvall was presented with the Cholmondeley Award and the
Bernard Heidsieck—Centre Pompidou prize.
