Lo Spazio di Via Lazzaro Palazzi – Ovvero: tirar correndo

On October 5, 1992, in Milan, in the former industrial architecture of Ansaldo,1 the group exhibition Lo Spazio di Via Lazzaro Palazzi; ovvero tirar correndo was held. Approximately twenty minutes after the opening, a squadron of Carabinieri entered the space and evacuated it on the basis of an invalid permit. The artworks were seized, and all activities of MilanoPoesia, the festival responsible for the exhibition, were halted. One of the ongoing projects that was interrupted was the printing of a catalogue intended to document the activities of the group of artists who worked in and around the Lo Spazio di Via Lazzaro Palazzi exhibition space in Milan. These artists also published the magazine tiracorrendo.
Now, 31 years later, this catalogue finally exists in printed form. It was originally created during the summer of 1992 by five members of the group (Stefano Dugnani, Liliana Moro, Adriano Trovato, Massimo Uberti and Bernhard Rüdiger). Its purpose was to document and showcase all the individual and collective activities that contributed to the artistic exchanges, productions, and the positions took during that time, highlighting the value of these intersecting collaborations, which shaped the artists' unique position within a rapidly changing globalized society and art world.
The book takes a chronological approach, retracing the productions and statements of the artists from Lo Spazio di Via Lazzaro Palazzi, as well as the contributions made by numerous collaborators and guests between 1987 and 1992.
