The result of a remarkable editorial work whose graphic design is signed by
Syndicat and Lucien Pelen, this first monograph brings together fifteen years of photographic and video production, unpublished contributions, texts and the making-of of the actions carried out by the artist.
Lucien Pelen (born in 1978 in Aubagne, France) works on the landscape, unless it is the landscape that shapes in. Through his self-portraits, nature merges with human. Lucien Pelen's artistic approach is to give a meaning to the natural balance of everything. He experiments with spaces, staging himself in the truth that surrounds him, nature taking the place of support. Lucien Pelen always wants the image to be "real", without manipulation: between humor, poetry and introspection, his photographs reflect the beauty of our passage in the landscape. He redefines the history of human kind in the immensity of Mother Nature's backdrop. The strength of his photographs and videos lies in the ability to contain, in an appearance of formal stripping and setting aside all cultural references, a secret and tenacious dialogue with the history of art.
