Léon Bloy (1846-1917) was a French novelist and pamphleteer, friend and disciple of
Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly, close to Paul Bourget, François Coppée, Joris-Karl Huysmans and Jean Richepin, and famous for his partly autobiographical novel "Le Désespéré".
