Atom Egoyan

 
A Canadian from Toronto, born from Armenian parents, filmmaker Atom Egoyan (born 1960, Cairo) was awarded the Prix Spécial du Jury at Cannes in 1987 for his second film Family Viewing and achieved international success with Exotica in 1994 and The Sweet Hereafter adapted from a novel from Russell Bank in 1997. More recently, he directed Ararat (2002) on Armenian genocide, Adoration (2008), Chloe (2010) and The Captive (2014).
