Ahmed Essyad

Ahmed Essyad (born 1938 in Salé, Morocco) is a Moroccan composer who has lived in France since 1962. His dual musical culture, both Arab-Islamic—at the Rabat Conservatory—and Western—at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he was a pupil, and later the privileged disciple, of Max Deutsch (himself the spiritual son of Schoenberg)—runs through the whole of his work.
