An inventory of gestures of artists who deliberately
destroyed their own works.
After “L'inventaire des destructions (post-scriptum)” Eric Watier gets the chance to publish the totality of the text of this ongoing project in English. “Out of the half-dozen canvases he painted in 1954 in
Rauschenberg's studio in Fulton Street,
Cy Twombly only spared Panorama.” The artist comes up with an inventory of work destructions printed on a Newspapers. Either seldom or daily, these actions may be spontaneous or carefully thought out throughout an artist's life. And either expected or radical, these practices shed new light on the evolution of these artists' production. Tree copies feature a four destructed selected print by the artist, price on request.
Éric Watier has made the "
artist's book" his artistic practice. Often simple in appearance, and free for the most part, his publications take various forms: booklets, posters, leaflets, postcards, blocks, etc.
