Comprehensive monograph: the first English-language publication that includes an history of all the series of this photographer-duo.
Lukáš Jasanský and Martin Polák are among the most highly respected living Czech photographers. They express themselves through extensive series of photographs that until now have only been documented separately in smaller catalogues featuring only some of their work. A larger overview and assessment of their oeuvre has been missing. This book is the first English-language publication that includes a comprehensive history of all the series of this photographer-duo.
Lukáš Jasanský and Martin Polák (born 1965 and 1966 in Prague) form an exceptional creative duo in contemporary Czech fine art. Since 1985, when their collaboration began, they have made very original, casual and well-thought refined photographs representing one of the highlights of contemporary Czech photography. What is essential at the same time is that the photographs form extensive and compact units whose duplication or multiplication gradates the individual impact of each of them. Both the artists have been often included in a broader context than just that of photography and are rather classified, at large, among fine artists of their generation who are not engaged in a single medium.
