Catalogue: a selection of recent and older works by Palestinian artist Taysir Batniji.
This book, with a forword written by Michel Poivert, presents all the
works exhibited for Taysir Batniji's solo show in Salon-de-Provence. For
example the emblematic work made of engraved soaps reproducing Article 13
of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and which gives its name to
the exhibition. Also reproduced, some earlier works, such as
Fenêtre
en voyage, the installation
Hanoun, or the photographic series
Pères. An
interview of Taysir Batniji by
Juliette Laffon, curator of the exhibition,
concludes this richly illustrated book for a comprehensive approach of the
Palestinian artist's work.
Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at Salon-de-Provence, from April to June, 2013, during Marseille-Provence 2013, European Capital of Culture.
Born in Gaza shortly before the occupation of Palestinian territories in 1966, Taysir Batniji lives and works in France since 1994.
