“Villes anciennes, art nouveau” (“Old citie, new art”) is a formula coined by the Polish art critic Jacek Wozniakowski to describe the paradox that characterizes both Krakow and Quebec City, important sites both in terms of national heritage, and their vibrant contemporary cultures, marked by high levels of artistic activity. An artistic exchange between the two cities was framed by this observation.
