Dedicated to John Latham's heterogeneous and paradoxical practice, this book highlights the artist's contradictory relationship with knowledge and language, through a selection of texts and images of some of his projects, all articulated around a glossary of terms specific to Latham, compiling his own definitions and those of other authors.
Published follwing the exhibition Fabriques de contre-savoirs at 49 Nord 6 Est – Frac Lorraine, Metz, in 2018-2019.
John Latham (1921-2006) was a pioneer of Britishconceptual art, who, through painting, sculpture, performances, assemblages, films, installation and extensive writings, fuelled controversy and continues to inspire. A visionary in mapping systems of knowledge, whether scientific or religious, he developed his own philosophy of time, known as "Event Structure."
Edited by Colette Angeli and Fanny Gonella.
Texts by Michael Corris, Fanny Gonella, Antony Hudek & Athanasios Velios, Jakob Jakobsen, John Latham, John A. Walker.
