Reference monograph: a selection of 320 works, 30 texts and interviews, 150 archive photographs.
Peter Klasen (born 1935 in Lübeck, Germany) is a German painter, photographer and sculptor.
After studying at the Fine-Arts in Berlin, he moved to Paris in 1959 and became one of the leading figures of the New Figuration, alongside Valerio Adami, Erró, Jacques Monory, Bernard Rancillac and Hervé Télémaque. The staging of recurrent themes (industry, confined space and signage) and his "mechanized" technics (airbrush and stencils) contribute to the distancing from the subjects: containers, railings, road signs, locks…
Texts by Peter Klasen, Alain Jouffroy, Olivier Kaeppelin,
Bernard Vasseur, Christophe Penot, Renaud Faroux,
Daniel Sibony, Charlotte Sibony, Philippe Ageon.
