The big book of the LAC (Lieu d'Art Contemporain), the first private cultural center of the
Reunion Island and an essential artistic place in the Indian Ocean.
L'Île au trésor is the Reunion Island where Vincent Mengin, young artist, settled thirty-five years ago. He created the LAC (Lieu d'Art Contemporain), first private cultural center of the island. By shear tenacity, he managed to introduce contemporary art, inviting as residents important artists such as Yann Dugain,
Erró, Claude Viseux,
Hervé Di Rosa, Nils-Udo, Christian Jacquard,
Joël Hubaut, Lydie Jean-known as-Pannel or JonOne.
Vincent Mengin built, through the years and encounters, a surprising museum and a park of sculpture which make this center a real attraction, joining harmoniously private and artistic life. Alternately builder, lithographer, painter, sculptor, photograph, producer of films, Vincent and his wife Roselyne take care and assist invited guests in their realisations «in-situ». Just important, they put a special pride in enabling youngsters to discover contemporary art through regular cultural exchanges with schools. A formidable initiation to art.
