This luxurious box gathers the three volumes of the publication the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art began in 2008, in the framework of the major exhibition dedicated to the director, on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
Retrospective survey of one of Portugal's most original and yet often misunderstood cinematic directors. Adapting the exhibition's format and content, these three publications follow the editorial dimension of a magazine dedicated to his work and features a collection of film stills, along with archival notes, images from books, scripts and film posters, texts by Manoel de Oliveira himself and various other writings and interviews. The third volume of the catalogue concludes the journey through Oliveira's oeuvre, including his latest productions and republication of a text originally published in 1933, that remains relevant today, in which the director talks about the struggle between cinema and capitalism. The catalogue is complemented by an exhaustive filmography.
Published following the exhibition at the Serralves Museum, from 12 July to 2 November 2008.
