Méandre(s)An experience in spontaneous, collective creating (book + CD + DVD)

Méandre(s) Méandre(s) - Méandre(s)
A sound and music experience along the Dordogne river, with Le Chant du Moineau and the Ensemble UN orchestra, and a group of invited researchers (with a composition by Lionel Marchetti on CD and a film by Camille Auburtin on DVD).
Le UN is an improvisation society which brings together musicians, a lighting artist, and a performer. Le UN is a polymorphic mass that preserves the individual and their practices without hindering the space of the collective.
Méandre(s) took place between the 24 and 26 June 2021. After much location scouting, Le UN and its guests (Olivier Chadoin, sociologist, Éric Chevance, teacher, Antoine Devillet, philosopher, Vincent Fleury, biophysicist, and Anne Steiner, sociologist) stayed, paddled and played during the fi rst two days along twenty or so kilometers of the Périgord section of the river Dordogne, between Carzac and Vézac. The various results were gathered into images and sounds, and on June 26th a public event was put on at the stopover at Carsac with conferences, sound projections, food and a concert.

Le UN, an ensemble of seasoned improvisers, was invited to think collectively, embarking on canoes, playing and paddling, singing and swimming, in the water and its environment, for 3 days. Liquid, breath, voices, friction, strikes, actions - various bodies mixed with the elements, their expression at its freest within contexts that were the most varied. Another unique and central tenet of this project is the invitation that was given out to researchers. The unusual context for artistic creation seemed to us ideal for investigating the notions within orchestral forms, especially in the context of improvisation: the all-important principle of equality, i.e. involving neither conductor, score, nor indications. And so we pursued the ambitious theme of "collective, spontaneous creating". The invited scientists were charged with finding links, passage-ways, between their respective fields of research and the situations lived by the orchestra.
With Pascal Battus (rotary surfaces), Benjamin Bondonneau (clarinet), Christophe Cardoen (lighting device), Patrick Charbonnier (trombone), David Chiesa (double bass), Michel Doneda (soprano saxophone), Nina Garcia (electric guitar), Amanda Gardone (double bass), Rozemarie Heggen (double bass), Lionel Marchetti (electronics), Michel Mathieu (actions), Natacha Muslera (voice), Jérôme Noetinger (electronics), Jean-Luc Petit (contrabass clarinet, sopranino saxophone), Christian Pruvost (trumpet), Aude Romary (cello), Mathieu Werchowski (violin), Camille Auburtin (video), Etienne Caire (16mm images).
