Chico Mello (born 1957 in Curitiba) is a Brazilian guitarist, vocalist and composer. He studied medicine and music in Brazil and moved to Berlin in 1987 to study at the University of the Arts with
Dieter Schnebel and Witold Szalonek. Mello has also collaborated with colleagues such as
Arnold Dreyblatt, Daniel Ott, Nicholas Bussmann, and Burkhard Schlotthauer's Wandelweiser ensemble.
He works on experimental and improvised music as well as music theatre and Brazilian pop music, and has participated in several intercultural projects at renowned festivals.
