Brigitte Bauer is a visual artist (born 1959 in Germany, lives and works in Arles, France). In 1990 she got a master's degree in photography at the
Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie, Arles and in 1995, a master's degree in Fine Arts at the Université Aix-Marseille. She is actually teaching photography at the Ecole Supérieure des beaux-arts, Nîmes. After developing a kind of landscape culture in her first series, her current researches are more directed to the human being and his presence in places often situated between private and public.

Her documentary medium format film,
Three of Us, has been shown during the festival Voies Off within the framework of Marseille-Provence 2013, european capital of culture.

Brigitte Bauer's works are part of many public and private collections, such as Fonds National d'Art Contemporain, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Deutsche Bank, Union des Banques Suisses, artothèques in Nantes, Miramas, Auxerre, Angers and Pessac, Carnavalet museum, l'Imagerie in Lannion, Théâtre de la Photographie in Nice et the Centrer for Photography in Salamanca. Brigitte Bauer participated in state commissions Euroméditerranée, Marseille, in 2002-2003 and Un Nouveau Paysage Familial, Nancy, in 2007, as well as in artist residences in Alexandria, Egypt, in 2004 and 2005. Since 2011, Brigitte Bauer has taken part in the collective project France(s) Territoire Liquide.
