First French translation of the essay of the Spanish architect José Ignacio Linazasoro.
To question the meaning of architecture is to seek to establish a principle of global and timeless legitimacy, not only referring to the past or the present. The modern architecture, in spite of the fact that it appears under a fragmentary condition, aspires to a lost totality.
Madrid-based architect José Ignacio Linazasoro, practitioner, teacher and theorist, is the co-founder, with Ricardo Sanchez, of the Linazasoro & Sánchez agency. His work in highly patrimonial contexts in Spain, France and other countries has received wide international recognition.
Edited by Claudia Mion.
Preface by Bernard Quirot.
Translated from the Spanish by OLISTIS (original title: La memoria del orden. Paradojas del sentido de la arquitectura moderna, Abada Editores, 2015).
