Swiss fashion label with international reputation.
This beautifully illustrated book is published on the occasion of an exhibition at the textile museum of St. Gallen, showing the creations of the fashion label Akris. Amongst their famous costumers are politicans such as Condoleeza Rice, as well as Hollywood stars such as Susan Sarandon, Nicole Kidman and Brook Shields.
For the first time, this monograph provides an insight into the process of developing and creating the garments, starting from the first sketch through to the catwalk presentations in Paris. Drawing on the company's own textile archive, the publication also shows the renowned designer Albert Kriemler's contribution to Akris' success.
Until the early 90s, Akris was working in close cooperation with the famous New Yorker fashion photographer Steven Klein, whose photographs are documented in a lavish insert, showing several of his beautiful images.
In addition, the book includes detailed information about the company's history, with original sources and historic reviews, thus giving the full story of the St. Galler label's rise to now rank amongst the top fashion houses of the world.
