This book offers a journey into the work of Guillaume Pinard in the shape of a long conversation with art critics Franck Balland and Julie Portier. While the commentary arrived before the pictures, their presentation in this book is guided by the text and can produce new narratives. The conversation includes various themes such as the decline of public service; detective Columbo; Locronan's blood sausage fair; organic, sexual and fecal forms; profanation; reproduction; cultural mediation; social media; virtuosity; the encounter; Gustave Courbet; Rahan; Mondrian; Pokémon; painting; psychoanalysis; the refusal of the subconscious; microhistory; signs; the evolution of species; tarot; and beauty.
Born in 1971, Guillaume Pinard lives and works in Rennes. He is a graduate of the École régionale des Beaux-Arts in Rennes—today's École Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne, where he has been teaching since 2012.
