Chaos is sweeping across the world, monstrous creatures are appearing everywhere, and a battle is raging.
At first, everything is calm. Then the landscape is overrun by a growing swarm of grotesque monsters; chaos breaks out, and a battle ensues before a certain serenity returns in extremis.
Through this journey inspired by medieval imagery, Claude Cadi explores, above all, what happens inside a body stricken by illness, followed by its recovery.
Some of the reinterpreted works are recognizable—Jérôme Bosch or Brueghel, for example—but above all, one physically feels the alternating tension and release.
This book was originally drawn on a large scroll over 5 meters long, so all the pages are connected in a single continuous strip.
Claude Cadi is a French artist living in Neukölln, with interests spanning from archeology and woodworking to boxing. He draws and do comics, mostly as fanzine, since 2000.
