Ascending from the Liquid Horizon focuses on the possibilities and potentials once proposed by speculative narratives about the future, and reflects on the realm that is currently emerging from the intersection of science, corporate interests, and ecology. Vast developments in technology, advancing hand in hand with rapid climate change, predict a situation far more complex than the current one, defined by an environment where technology levels nature and notions of the biological, natural and terrestrial need to be revised.

This catalogue accompanies the exhibition by Florence Lazar at the Jeu de Paume. It is also her first monograph.

This catalogue focuses on an immersive one-year project in Portugal, centered around questions of global ecology and tourism. Kawamata's large scale installation integrates both plastic residues and abandoned boats collected on Portugal's shores during beach cleaning campaigns. The core of the publication contains numerous reproductions and texts by Florence Ostende, David Sanson, and Dean Daderko. This film documents the struggle for the preservation of the prehistoric rock art sites in the Côa valley in Portugal in the early 1990s.
