Richard Teitelbaum

 
A pioneer of improvisation, electronic music played in real time, brain-wave music, mixing genres and blending cultures, American avant-garde composer, musician and experimenter Richard Teitelbaum (1939-2020) is co-founder, with Allan Bryant, Alvin Curran and Frederic Rzewski, of the Musica Elettronica Viva (MEV) ensemble. Trained with Allen Forte, Mel Powell and Luigi Nono, then in gagaku and shakuhachi with Katsuya Yokoyama, he has collaborated with Anthony Braxton, Nam June Paik, Joan Jonas, Andrew Cyrille, Leroy Jenkins, Steve Lacy, Alvin Lucier, David Behrman, among many others.
