InterdependenciesPerspectives on Care and Resilience

 - Interdependencies
A considered examination of ability in our pseudo-post-pandemic era, Interdependencies: Perspectives on Care and Resilience approaches the intersection of artistic practice, accessibility, and activism with heightened cultural nuance and urgent self-examination, focusing on the mutual dependencies that exist between people, societies, and institutions.
This publication was realized on the occasion of the eponymous group exhibition at Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in 2023-2024. The fourteen artists offered critical and solution-oriented perspectives on social relationships and power structures. At the heart of the exhibition lay individual and collective experiences of disability, illness and healing.
The exhibition presented different models of care, from self-care to political care via collective care. Several works criticised the concept of self-care and how, as a defence mechanism for individuals, it distracts from structural problems. Others presented alternatives in radical care that might counteract social ills and effect political change. The exhibition and the texts in the catalogue demonstrate approaches based on collective care, questioning traditional as well as institutional notions of care (work).
