Richard Phillips -
First monograph dedicated to the American hyperrealist artist's drawings.
Known for his large-scale paintings in the manner of the 1970s Photorealists, Phillips is one of the most provocating American artist of the last decade. Taking his motifs from glossy magazines as much as from art history icons, he blends Pop art with a form of critique of the representation which emerged in the "Picture" generation of the 1980s. Richly illustrated the book includes essays by musician Kim Gordon and artist Liam Gillick.
Born in 1963 in Marblehead, Massachusetts, Richard Phillips lives and works in New York.
Texts by Kim Gordon, Liam Gillick, Karl Holmqvist, Franck Gautherot.
