Catherine Ikam -
This monograph is structured around an alphabet dedicated to the career of this pioneer of digital art. It also includes contributions from the likes of Nam June Paik and Paul Virilio, as well as an interview with Catherine Ikam and her associate Louis Fléri.
Since 1980, Catherine Ikam has been working on the concept of identity in the electronic age and in particular on the themes of identity and appearance, the living and the artificial. This work is a journey through memory but also projects that the artist picks out in the form of an A to Z, each letter adding a stroke to the portrait of her mind. Words are strung together forming an exquisite corpse that plays with their order in the sentence, creating a multitude of connotations and meanings.
Published on the occasion of the exhibition “Point Cloud Portraits”, at the Centre des arts d'Enghien-les-Bains, from September 20 to December 11, 2016.
