New North Zurich / Neuer Norden Zürich

 - New North Zurich / Neuer Norden Zürich
Stemming from a Public Art Zurich project, this publication gathers texts and international artists contributions exploring the condition of 21st-century cities in relation with contemporary art.
New North Zurich is published on the occasion of the eponymous international festival held in Zurich in summer 2018. Inviting more than 40 artists to present existing works and new commissions in the public sphere, the manifestation takes the urban transformation of the north area of Zurich as a point of departure and a challenging theme.
Presenting contributions by artists such as Jean-Marie Appriou, Katinka Bock, Isabelle Cornaro, Olafur Eliasson, Fischli/Weiss, HR Giger, John Giorno, Nic Hess, Rémy Markowitsch, Carsten Nicolai, Matt Mullican, Alex Sadkowsky, and Veronika Spierenburg, the book explores the condition of 21st-century cities, and the way contemporary art could “inhabit” them through the “New Zurich North” experience and an analysis of past art interventions and discussions in the public realm.
The publication includes portfolios by Ruth Erdt and Jules Spinatsch, as well as contributions by Nikolaus Wyss, Rein Wolfs, Juri Steiner, and many more.
Published on the occasion of the eponymous international festival in Zurich from June 9 to September 2, 2018.
Edited by Christoph Doswald.
