Autobiography

Robert Barry - Autobiography
An “impersonal autobiography” (artist's book).
If the life story of conceptual artist Robert Barry is to be found in the pages of Autobiography, it requires the attention, interpretation, and imagination of the reader. The book consists of photographic portraits of the artist's friends, family members, and colleagues, whose likenesses are printed with ink so faint that they seem to disappear into the page. These images are accompanied by bits of broken words printed at odd angles. Together, images and text provide just enough information for the reader to construct a story of an artist who has spent his artistic career in pursuit of the invisible.
