les presses du réel
Jean-Claude Ruggirello -
First monograph (video installations, mechanical, electronic, light and sound devices, living or naturalized animals, sculptures, performances, photographs and drawings...), with two essays and a conversation with the artist.
Born 1959 in Tunis, Jean-Claude Ruggirello lives and works in Paris and Marseilles. “JC Ruggirello pieces are all linked by a curious, critical and resistant stance with regard to the world, to its inhabitants both human and animal, and to its objects and media. JC Ruggirello views the world like a sculptor but his protean work certainly reaches beyond the category of sculpture and is often located in the field of performance, where it shapes space, sound and presence, as practising the art of assemblage. Ruggirello also often uses a camera to record an everyday reality that is at once unusual and familiar.” (Blandine Chavanne)
